&memories of conflict set in motion;
I think, like most people, my intro to the website world was in the form of a really really crappy page on AOL Hometown. The only real purpose for it was to host a really really crappy fanfic of mine. Said fanfic got a larger and slightly less crappy home on Angelfire when it, and the surprisingly decently-sized fandom it gained, grew larger. And when I actually learned HTML, but. That lasted for... idk, close to two years? Whatever, it was a long time, and I was like 14 back then so I don't remember. So that lasted for a long time, and I eventually started acquiring more websites for various other purposes on various other crappy free hosts until I finally decided "y'know, if all of this stuff could be found in one place than it would be really useful", and I opened my first collective site on... some other crappy free webhost. It was like, envy.nu or virtue.nu or something, and I'm pretty sure neither of those exist anymore. :D Said collective was named Shining Star after one of my favorite songs from the Digimon anime.
This collective site hopped around several different hosts (including Crosswinds and Brinkster) until I finally found a permanent (at the time) home, at the website of my friend FlatFace. This was in like, June of 2002. It stayed there for quite a while, housing my various websites: stuff for my original anime concepts, an art site, web cliques, and all kinds of dumb stuff that my dumb 16-year-old self thought up. :D The name for my little "network" changed in early 2003 and became Chaotic Illusion, which... means nothing except it sounds pretty. 8D
Sometime in 2004, I changed hosts again. Chaotic Illusion was now hosted on LardPirates.com, the home of another group of "friends", if you could call them that, and to be honest I still use the account I have there for storage. Nothing really special to say about the server, except for the fact that I was there a long time, until my good friend Nevi offered to host me at the end of 2006. ♥ By the time I was here, I'd gotten less stupid with the websites I was making. I now had fanlistings, a HUGE informational site about a roleplaying group I run, and yes. ♥ I think you all know the rest.
On October 29th, 2007... I registered my first actual domain at 1and1 Webhosting. As in, one where I'm not on some crappy free site or mooching off one of my friends, but the space is mine and the domain name is mine and it is awesome. 8D
As of April 1st, 2008, I'm being hosted at HostGator, which is infinitely more awesome than the old one. Chicka chicka yeah!
And that, my friends, is the tl;dr-worthy history of my webmastering days. :X
